English is a beautiful language with grammar at its core. Today, we will learn about interjections. When you meet a friend after a long time you tend to share many things with them. During your conversation, you may use expressions such as, “Wow! That’s a great news” or “Alas!” Do you know what are these expressions called? They are called interjections. The words used to express strong feelings or sudden emotions.

You can find these interjections at the start of a sentence which is generally followed by a comma or an exclamation mark. A comma is used for a mild interjection while an exclamation mark is used to show a sudden display of surprise, or emotion. Example:

1. Indeed, this is not the first time that the trains are late.
2. Yes, I did it purposefully.
