Apartment is a very common subject of discussion.It has a great importance in tier I and II cities. We always discuss on the topic related to it like area, environment, location and rate of the house in an apartment. Let’s see some words to to be used during the discussion.

Apartment

1. Apartment

An apartment  or a flat  is a self-contained housing unit (a type of residential real estate) that occupies only part of a building, correctly, on a single level without a stair. The building may be known as apartment building or complex.


Example: I own a luxury apartment in Greater Kailash.

2. Flat

A flat is nothing but home in an apartment which covers the specific area for living of a family.


Example: Many people face financial problems while buying a flat in a posh apartment.

3. 2BHK/3BHK

The abbreviation for these are 2 or 3 bedrooms, a hall and a kitchen. These words are used to describe the room structure in the home.


Example: In suburban areas of a city, a 2BHK flat in a good location demands minimum Rs. 60,00,000

4. Elevator

Elevator is the lift which is used to go up and down in the apartment building.


Example: Two to four lifts are necessary for the building having 100 floors.

5. Mechanical Parking

It is a space reserved for car parking where some floors are reserved for cars to be parkde one on top of the other.


Example: Mechanical parking is found in mant mtropolitan cities nowadays.

6. Serviced Apartment
A serviced apartment is a fully furnished apartment available for both short-term as well as long-term stays, providing all the hotel-like amenities, such as having room service, a fitness center, a laundry room, and/or a rec room. Most of them are equipped with full kitchens, Wi-Fi and washer & dryers inside.


Example: Most of the multi national companies frequently use serviced apartments to host professionals who may be on a local or international work assignment.
7. Balcony/Gallery

It is nothing but the free space available near a window from where one can take a view of ground or the road view below the house and spend his/ her free time for relaxing.


Example: All kids enjoy playing in the balcony.

8. Terrace Flat

This kind of flat has a large area within which a small terrace has been reserved rather than a small balcony, where trees can also be planted.


Example: It’s a dream of every citizen in Mumbai to have a terrace flat near Marine Lines.

9. Skyline

It is the panoramic view of the city from a height.


Example: Everyone likes the view of skyline from his/ her residence.

10. Skyscraper

It is an extremely tall building, having a height of 50 to 100 floors.


Example: Foreign countries are famous for their commercial skyscrapers.
