1. Have a whale of a time

Meaning - to enjoy yourself very much.


Examples:

2. Just what the doctor ordered

Meaning - exactly what is wanted or needed.


Examples:

Vacations should always be just what the doctor ordered.


All I need during this trip is sea, sun, and spa. It would make me feel that I have got what the doctor ordered.

3. Wear someone out

Meaning – to make someone tired


Examples:

My job wears me out.


You are wearing me out! Can you give me a break?

4. Off the beaten track/ path

Meaning - in a place where few people go, far from any main roads and towns.


Examples:

There are many destinations in India, but I like to travel off the beaten track.


This time I have chosen off the beaten place for vacation.

5. Short break

Meaning -  a specific time dedicated to pleasure and rest, especially when pay is granted to an employee.


Examples:

I need a short break to de-stress myself.


Neha looks very happy and fresh after a short break.
