On each side of the uterus at the top, the fallopian tubes and ovaries are present. Together, the uterus, vagina, ovaries, and fallopian tubes make up the reproductive system.

Function of the Uterus

The structural integrity and support were given by uterus to the bladder, bowel, pelvic bones and organs. The bladder located above the pubic bone and the bowel is located behind the uterus. The uterus is followed by with the cervix, which is followed by vagina.

What is the importance of Uterus?

The uterus is essential for sexual response. It directs the blood flow to the pelvis and to the external genitalia. The external genitalia include the ovaries, vagina, labia, and clitoris. The uterus is needed for uterine orgasm to occur during sexual intercourse.

Reproductive Function:

Uterus accepts a fertilized ovum from the fallopian tube. It then becomes implanted into the endometrial, and derives nourishment from blood vessels which develop exclusively for this purpose. The fertilized ovum grows as an embryo will attach to a uterus wall and creates a placenta and develops into a fetus until childbirth.
