:( I am extremely confused about when to use but and yet. I always do it wrong. Please help.

but - when you want to say something contrary to the other person's opinion

yet - til now...when you want to ask a person if something has not been done till now.

"But" just means "but". "Yet" is usually used when there's some kind of contrast or surprise involved.

"He walked in the door, but nobody saw him."
"He shot the man in front of 50 witnesses, yet nobody says they saw it."
