Facing a problem can get you stressed, but knowing how to tackle the issue maturely and going about its solution is the best way to proceed. Of course, watching you all harassed and frazzled is going to have your loved ones questioning you about what is wrong... What do you do then? A smart man once said, sharing your troubles and venting it out will help you relax and probably slash your worries down to half. So, when given an opportunity to talk about a particular problem you're facing, speak your mind and heart out.

Talk about a Problem

Talk to your best friend:

You feel comfortable and at ease discussing your issues with your "bestie". So be it! Give him/her a call and make plans to catch up. In this case, it is essential that you speak face to face to the listener rather than conveying your discontent over the phone. A face to face conversation would enable you to be more expressive and clear.

How to speak?

Yes, you are facing a problem, yet don't go all out lashing at the individual at fault while describing your issue to your friend. Collect yourself together and speak with an appropriate tint of maturity. Avoiding complications and confusions, speak in English. While describing, consider speaking slowly and in fluent English to avoid any unwanted mix-ups. Being unsure about your English communication skills should be fine, as it is your best friend who you're conversing with.

A conversational example:

Conversational Example

Situation: Khloe is going through a hard time in her life, she doesn't want to talk to her family about it because they are a little miffed with her. She resorts to talking it out with her best friend Rob.

Type of conversation: Face- to- face!

Rob: Hi Koko! What's up? How's it going?

Khloe: Hey Rob. Quite a lot of things have been up. And to add to that, nothing positive.

Rob: Oh Koko! You and the issues that follow you around... Ha- ha!

Khloe: Very funny! This time I am in a serious fix.

Rob: Okay- Okay. I'll get serious. Tell me all about what's wrong, I am sure I'll be able to find a solution.

Khloe: Listen. My roommate has been a pest lately. She throws her things around the house and messes the entire place up. She leaves her dirty clothes in the bath room and I eventually end up picking them. Her shoes and slippers are scattered in the house like it were her shoe wardrobe, she's managed to open an entire mall in the bedroom with a scattered set- up of bags, clothes and accessories.

Rob: She sounds so hygienic! Ha- ha.

Pizza

Khloe: Wait! That's not it. She invites her friends over and flings around pizza boxes and plastic cups. I can't even talk to my parents about it as they were against me moving out of home in the first place. I have spoken to her a million times but she has paid no heed . Now it really feels helpless!

Rob: What's there to feel helpless about? If you've told her about it and she's still not doing the needful, ask her to leave. Speak to the owner, give  her a one month notice period and ask her to leave by the end of the month. One just can't create a nuisance while living with a roommate. Problem solved... Oh! And for your next roommate experience, please make sure you have your 'clauses' ready in advance.

Khloe: Yep. Feels, so much lighter. Thank you Rob, there's a reason why you are my best friend, Solution guru! Ha- ha...

While learning how to speak in English fluently focus on two main points:

• Simple spoken English conversation
• Easy spoken English

Sheetal: I've completed my MBA from ABC university.

Raj: Great. Curious to know, on what basis did you choose your college?

Sheetal: Well, a number of factors. I made sure to do my share of research on the college's history, its reputation in the field, its value on the job front.

Raj: Okay. And...

Sheetal: I checked the accreditation the college was affiliated with, its teaching faculty, both the permanent as well as the visiting staff, and the in-house job opportunities.

Raj: That's a lot of research.

Sheetal: I believed in studying the college in detail before enrolling myself into one.

Raj: Looking at your rate of success, I don't think that's a bad belief.

Sheetal: True, besides, it becomes easier to weigh your options if you know every detail about the college you're soon going to be a part of. It's always best to get into the habit of doing as much research as can be done.

Raj: I am so thankful to you for sharing your knowledge with me. If it weren't for this conversation with you, I would not have bothered in doing so much research before enrolling into any college.

How to Describe an Attire?

Attending a formal get together would require you to be well- dressed. Irrespective of whether the occasion invite mentions the dress code or not, it is always good to know what should be worn, where. Being careless about what you wear to which place is definitely going to lead you to trouble someday.

Describe_an_Attire

Don't be that one person to be spoken about just because of a wrong outfit picked out by you. While you're invited to any function, celebration or meet, always study and analyze the reason behind the invite before zeroing down on your outfit. Possessing the understanding of appropriate dressing doesn't come naturally; it is something that must be learned and acquired over a period of time. Probably, a few fashion faux pas should teach you a lesson or two.

The art of describing:

It is also okay for you to call a few people who are attending the same function so as to know what they are wearing, to be on the safer side. Similarly, you might come across a few people who call you to know about what you are wearing and you get stuck in the dilemma of describing. It is extremely easy to describe a place, an experience, a city; yet describing an outfit/ attire is difficult.

Let's take an instance to help you out with your descriptive skills:

Decsribe an Attire

Situation: A formal cocktail party at work, as a celebration to the completion of 20 years in the business.

Sheetal: Hey Reena, are you free for a minute or two? Needed to ask you something.

Reena: Go ahead Sheetal, I am absolutely free.

Sheetal: You know that tomorrow we are invited to a cocktail party at work.

Reena: Yes...

Sheetal: So, I am extremely confused about what to wear. Have you decided as yet?

Reena: I have actually decided.

Sheetal: I knew it and hence I called you. Please, help me out .Tell me  what you're wearing. It will give me a fair idea of what I should wear as well.

Reena: Sure. I am wearing a long flowy cocktail dress.

Sheetal: I am unsure if I know what a real cocktail dress looks like, please elaborate a bit.

Reena: It is a white, flowy, ankle length dress. It has a floral print on it and the dress is full sleeves.

Sheetal: Sounds pretty, already.

Reena: Yes, it has a thick belt that runs along the waist holding it tight, making one look slim.

Sheetal: I love the way the outfit sounds. What are you wearing with it? Accessories?

Reena: I was planning on teaming it up with a pair of black high heels, chandelier earrings and a few delicate bracelets.

Sheetal: Classy! I think I know what to wear now. I don't have a cocktail dress though but your description has taught me a thing or two about what is the ideal and safe attire for this sort of a party. Thanks Reena.

Reena: Oh! Don't worry. I know you'll dress just fine. Just make sure it's sophisticated and well- covered though. See you tomorrow.

Sheetal: Thanks for the tips. I hope I manage to come well-dressed too. Bye.
